Goodbye, 2019: Adam J. Kurtz

As 2019 comes to an end (how did another one fly by?), I wrote in to people whose work and process inspires me and asked them a few questions about the year that was.

a photo I clicked of Adam in Brooklyn 3 years ago

The first person who came to mind was Brooklyn-based artist-author Adam J.Kurtz, who pretty much pep talked me through the year through his Instagram page. Here are his responses for the interview:

The nicest thing you did for someone in 2019? It would be less nice if I bragged about it! ;)

The book that helped you the most in 2019? I don't know if it helped exactly but I loved reading Fleishman Is In Trouble by Taffy Brodesser-Akner.

The song you heard on loop this year? Billie Eilish - bad guy (duh)

The film/TV show you fell head over heels in love with? Killing Eve season 1!!!!!

Your biggest accomplishment this year? Did a six city tour of Australia – a total dream.

Your big 2019 takeaway? Nobody is waiting for you to fuck up, nobody is standing by to fix your shit.

Who are you creative crushing on lately? Grateful for friends like Jordan Sondler and Grace Miceli who keep inspiring me.

What’s your number one bucket list item for 2020? Any big plans/projects planned for the new year? Calm down.

Rate 2019 on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being Totally Sucked. 8 or 9!!!!!

Thanks for doing this, Adam! :) Happy 2020!

Goodbye, 2019 is a conversation series with people who have inspired me this year.
